The year 2’s have been very busy over the past few weeks. I am proud of what they have learnt & believe their hard work will be evident in their reports. Just a reminder to continue to read with your child over the holidays. Reading will allow your child to expand their vocabulary which, in turn, will develop comprehension skills and improve their spelling and grammar. Our focus this term in Literacy has been procedure writing. We have spent many lessons focussing on the structure of a procedure writing a piece and why and how we can use them. The students can now independently structure a procedure to include a title, goal, list of requirements and a sequential method. We spent our final Literacy lesson writing (and making!) chocolate ice-cream sundae recipes. Our focus this term in Mathematics has been the number, shape and time. The year 2’s have been working hard and are now focussing particularly on adding and subtracting double digit numbers! Please practise ‘time’ over the holidays with your child, in particular, quarter past and a quarter to. I wish you all a wonderful and safe holidays and cannot wait to see you back after the break.
